How can I know if a chainsaw chain is backwards?

- Dec 29, 2017 -

Carefully feel the front edges of the top part of the chain. (the edges that would be facing away from you when operating the saw) These edges should feel sharp compared to any other surfaces you touch.

If no edges feel noticeably sharp, take the saw for professional sharpening and they’ll let you know if the chain is on backwards.

If chainsaws are so unfamiliar to you, perhaps you should have someone more experienced show you a few things about using them safely.
