Keeping the air filter clean daily is step one. If using in wet weather, on top of cleaning the filter, dry it out... water is the enemy! Keep the grill on the starter case unblocked. Untension the chain after use (chain expands when hot, contracts when cold) saves the bother of incrementally bending the crank. If something is worn, replace it... otherwise it generally flows onto something more critical/expensive. Don't lend it out!< the golden rule! & stay sharp.
