What are the factors that affect the farmer's decision of buying farm machinery in India?

  1. Non-availability of “family labor”

  2. Outlook toward farm mechanization

  3. Money in pocket/savings to make investment

  4. Bank loan available (along with SUBSIDY) esp. with solar pumpset, etc.

  5. False Demonstration Effect (even 2 acres farm owner will buy a tractor)

  6. Genuine Demonstration effect (to raise economic efficiency)

  7. Availability of complementary resource(s): why should he buy solar pump set if ground water is not available or is at 300 feet!

  8. Dryland/rainfed zone farmer is less inclined to buying machinery

  9. Adequate availability of machinery on hire basis dissuades buying
